The Master’s Program in English Education (MTBI), Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK), Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU), successfully conducted the 2026 Thesis Bootcamp on Wednesday and Thursday, February 4–5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.as a strategic academic initiative aimed at strengthening graduate students’ research competence and supporting timely thesis completion.
The event was attended by Maslathif Dwi Purnomo, PhD., Head of the Master’s Program in English Education, Reflina, M.Pd., Secretary of the Master’s Program in English Education, Prof. Dr. Tien Rafida, M.Hum the Dean of FITK–UINSU, as well as lecturers of the Master’s Program in English Education. Their presence demonstrated strong institutional commitment to improving the quality of graduate research and academic supervision.
In his remarks, Maslathif Dwi Purnomo, PhD., emphasized that the Thesis Bootcamp was designed to address students’ academic needs in a focused and structured manner.
“This Thesis Bootcamp is an academic strategy to assist our students in developing clear research directions, strong methodological foundations, and academically sound thesis writing. Through intensive guidance and mentoring, we aim to improve both the quality of research and the efficiency of thesis completion,” he stated.
Following this, Reflina, M.Pd., highlighted the practical benefits of the program for students.
“The bootcamp provides a supportive academic space where students can directly consult with supervisors and lecturers. This close interaction allows students to receive immediate feedback, clarify research challenges, and strengthen their academic writing skills,” she explained.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FITK–UINSU expressed appreciation for the initiative and reaffirmed the faculty’s support for program-based academic innovations.
“FITK fully supports activities initiated by study programs that enhance research culture and academic excellence. The Thesis Bootcamp reflects MTBI’s strong commitment to student-centered learning and high academic standards,” he remarked.
Throughout the program, lecturers of the Master’s Program in English Education actively participated as academic mentors, providing intensive supervision, constructive feedback, and scholarly input tailored to students’ research topics and stages. The interactive sessions fostered a rigorous yet collaborative academic atmosphere.
The 2026 Thesis Bootcamp is expected to significantly strengthen students’ research readiness, academic writing competence, and confidence in completing their theses. Through this initiative, the Master’s Program in English Education, FITK–UINSU, continues to demonstrate its commitment to producing high-quality graduates with strong research capabilities and academic integrity.
