MAGISTER TBI SUCCESSFULLY HOLDS INTERNATIONAL GUEST LECTURE WITH PROFESSOR NORDIN BIN MAMAT FROM UPSI, MALAYSIA

Medan, November 1, 2024 – Master’s Program of English Education (Magister Tadris Bahasa Inggris), Faculty of Tarbiyah Science and Teacher Training (FITK), State Islamic University (UIN) of North Sumatra Medan, successfully hosted an International Guest Lecture on November 1, 2024. The event featured esteemed speaker Prof. Nordin Bin Mamat from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia, and aimed to enrich students’ understanding of the latest developments in English language education.

The Dean of FITK, represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Dalimunthe, S.Ag., SS., M.Hum, delivered the opening address, expressing appreciation to all those involved. In his remarks, Dr. Dalimunthe emphasized the importance of international academic events like this in supporting the globalization of education at UIN Sumatera Utara. “We hope this event will inspire students to be more open to global knowledge, especially in the field of language education,” said Dr. Dalimunthe.

The Head of the Master’s Program of English Education, Maslathif Dwi Purnomo, M.Hum., Ph.D., also expressed his gratitude to Prof. Nordin for sharing his knowledge and experience with the students. Maslathif hoped the guest lecture would inspire students and broaden their perspectives in the study of language and education.

The Guest Lecture was attended by 60 active students from the Master’s Program in English Education. Participant enthusiasm was evident throughout the interactive discussion sessions, where students actively asked questions andshared their insights on the topics presented.

In his presentation, Prof. Nordin Bin Mamat addressed the theme “Innovative Approaches in Teaching English as a Second Language,” highlighting various effective techniques and approaches that enhance the quality of English language learning in schools. Prof. Nordin also emphasized the importance of technology integration and culturally responsive approaches in language education, which he argued can increase student engagement and motivation.

With the successful hosting of this International Guest Lecture, FITK UIN Sumatera Utara aims to continue holding similar events in the future to strengthen international collaboration and enhance the quality of education within the university.
