
Medan, June 12, 2025 – The Consulate General of India in Medan, Mr. Ravi Shanker Goel, visited Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU) Medan, strengthening academic and diplomatic ties between India and Indonesia. During his visit, Mr. Goel delivered a public lecture on “India-Indonesia Relations & Higher Education Opportunities in India.”
Maslathif Dwi Purnomo, M.Hum., Ph.D., Head of the Master Program in English Education at UINSU, served as the interpreter for the event. The lecture highlighted the historical and cultural connections between India and Indonesia, as well as the geographical proximity between the two nations.

The event aimed to foster closer collaboration between India and Indonesia in education, culture, and diplomacy. Mr. Goel discussed various higher education opportunities available in India, including scholarships for international students. This exchange strengthens the emotional bond between the Indian diplomatic mission and Indonesian youth.
The visit underscores the growing ties between India and Indonesia, particularly in defense and security cooperation, as evident from joint military exercises like Garuda Shakti and Samudra Shakti. The two nations continue to explore opportunities for mutual benefit, solidifying their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
