MTBI Conducts 2025 New Student Admissions Interview Online

Medan, Indonesia, August 11, 2025 – The Master’s Program in English Education (MTBI) at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Sumatera Utara, successfully held its 2025 New Student Admissions Interview on Monday, August 11, 2025. This year’s selection process was conducted entirely online via Zoom, allowing candidates from various regions to participate without geographical limitations.

The event was officially opened by Maslathif Dwi Purnomo, PhD., Head of the Master’s Program in English Education, who also served as one of the interview examiners. In his opening remarks, Dr. Maslathif welcomed all participants and emphasized the importance of the interview as a gateway to joining MTBI’s academic community.

“This is more than just an admissions procedure,” Dr. Maslathif noted. “It is our first step in getting to know you, your aspirations, and your commitment to advancing in the field of English education. MTBI is looking for candidates who are not only academically capable but also passionate about contributing to education at a broader level.”

Also present and serving as an examiner was Reflina, M.Pd., Secretary of the MTBI Program, who provided valuable insights into the program’s expectations and encouraged candidates to view this process as a meaningful academic exchange rather than a formal test.

The interviews were attended by dozens of enthusiastic prospective students, many of whom expressed excitement about the opportunity to join MTBI. Candidates came prepared to share their academic backgrounds, research interests, and career goals, demonstrating the diversity and caliber of the incoming student body.

Throughout the day, each candidate engaged in a structured interview session focusing on academic readiness, English proficiency, and research potential. The panel of examiners evaluated not only the candidates’ knowledge and skills but also their motivation and readiness to thrive in a rigorous graduate environment.

The online format proved to be both efficient and inclusive, enabling candidates from different provinces to take part without the need for travel. Despite the virtual setting, the atmosphere remained lively and interactive, with candidates showing active engagement and thoughtful responses.

Dr. Maslathif concluded the event by expressing his appreciation for the candidates’ enthusiasm and reaffirming MTBI’s commitment to providing a high-quality graduate learning experience.

“We are proud to see so much potential among our applicants,” he said. “We look forward to welcoming new students who will contribute to MTBI’s tradition of academic excellence and innovative research.”

The results of the admissions process will be announced in the coming weeks, marking the beginning of a new academic journey for the selected candidates. With its strong academic foundation, experienced faculty, and dynamic learning environment, MTBI of UIN Sumatera Utara remains one of the leading choices for advanced studies in English education in Indonesia.
