Medan, January 24, 2026 — The Master’s Program in English Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK), Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sumatera Utara Medan, successfully conducted a Stadium General on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 09:00 to 12:30 WIB. The event took place at the FITK Hall, 2nd Floor, UIN of North Sumatra Pancing Campus, and was attended by the entire academic community, including lecturers, program administrators, and students of the Master’s Program in English Education.

The Stadium General served as an important academic forum aimed at strengthening students’ understanding of the program’s vision, academic excellence, and future career pathways. It also marked a strategic moment to foster academic motivation, institutional identity, and student leadership within the MTBI community.

The event featured a comprehensive introduction to the Master’s Program in English Education delivered by Maslathif Dwi Purnomo, M.Hum., Ph.D., Head of the Master’s Program in English Education. In his presentation, he outlined the program’s academic strengths, governance structure, and long-term vision as a leading center of excellence in English education at both national and international levels.

Dr. Maslathif emphasized that MTBI UIN of North Sumatra is one of the flagship graduate programs of the university. This achievement, he explained, reflects the program’s strong commitment to academic quality, curriculum relevance, research productivity, and professional governance.

Beyond program introduction, Dr. Maslathif delivered a strong motivational message to students, encouraging them to broaden their academic aspirations.

“Do not be satisfied with stopping at becoming a teacher alone. A master’s degree should open wider academic horizons. Our main target is to prepare graduates who are capable of becoming lecturers and academic leaders, because that path carries a different level of academic prestige and responsibility,” he stated.

He further highlighted that graduates of MTBI are expected to become professional English educators, ELT researchers, curriculum developers, and innovators who are responsive to global educational challenges. The program adopts an integrated and transdisciplinary approach based on the principle of Wahdatul Ulum, combining linguistics, pedagogy, educational technology, and Islamic values.

During the session, Dr. Maslathif also introduced the study program management team, emphasizing that the Head, Secretary, lecturers, and academic staff are fully prepared to serve and support students throughout their academic journey. He underlined that quality academic services and close academic mentoring are key pillars in maintaining the program’s excellence.

The curriculum structure was also briefly introduced, showcasing core courses such as Philosophy of Science, Research Methodology, Advanced Theories in English Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics in ELT, Academic Writing for Publication, Digital Literacy in English Education, Curriculum and Material Development, Educational Evaluation and Assessment, Multimodal Discourse Analysis, Research Data Analysis, and Thesis Development. These courses are designed to strengthen students’ analytical thinking, research competence, academic writing skills, and digital pedagogy expertise.

One of the key moments of the event was the formation and inauguration of the Student Association of the Study Program (Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi). This initiative aims to strengthen student leadership, organizational skills, and academic engagement. The establishment of the association is expected to serve as a platform for students to develop soft skills, academic collaboration, and constructive contributions to the program’s academic culture.

Reflina, M.Pd., Secretary of the Master’s Program in English Education, also shared her remarks, expressing appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm and participation in the Stadium General.

“This forum is important for building academic awareness and a sense of belonging. We hope students actively communicate, engage in academic activities, and make full use of the academic services provided by the program,” she said.

Overall, the Stadium General ran smoothly and productively, reflecting the strong academic atmosphere within the Master’s Program in English Education UIN of North Sumatra.
