Ahmad Amin Dalimunte, Ph.D., Shares Transformative Experience at India Alumni Gathering in Medan

The Master’s Program in English Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK), UIN Sumatera Utara Medan, continues to strengthen its international academic engagement through the active participation of its lecturers in global educational networks. One of the program’s lecturers, Ahmad Amin Dalimunte, Ph.D., recently participated in the ITEC and ICCR Alumni Gathering organized by the Consulate General of India in Medan (Arya Duta Hotel Medan) on 16th January 2026.

The event brought together Indonesian alumni who had previously joined various educational and professional development programs sponsored by the Government of India. The gathering became a meaningful platform for reconnecting alumni, exchanging ideas, and reflecting on how international academic experiences contribute to professional growth and educational transformation.

During the forum, Ahmad Amin Dalimunte shared insights from his participation in the Proficiency Development Programme for English Teachers at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, India. Rather than focusing solely on academic training, he highlighted how the program encouraged intercultural understanding, collaborative learning, and global perspectives in English language education.

According to him, international academic experiences provide educators with opportunities to rethink teaching approaches, adapt to multicultural learning environments, and build wider professional networks across countries. He also emphasized that exposure to global educational practices can inspire lecturers to create more innovative, inclusive, and internationally oriented learning experiences for students.

The alumni forum was attended by representatives from universities, government institutions, and professional sectors across Sumatra. In his remarks, the Consul General of India in Medan, Ravi Shanker Goel, reaffirmed the important role of educational exchange programs such as ITEC and ICCR in strengthening long-term cooperation between India and Indonesia, particularly in the areas of education, professional development, and cultural understanding.

For the Master’s Program in English Education FITK UINSU, Ahmad Amin Dalimunte’s involvement in this international alumni network reflects the program’s commitment to fostering globally connected educators who are actively engaged in international collaboration and academic development.

This participation is also expected to motivate students and young academics within the program to pursue international opportunities, expand cross-cultural perspectives, and contribute to the advancement of English education in a global context.
